In a significant move, Fertitta, through various wholly-owned affiliates, has announced the expansion of the Golden Nugget brand into the Louisiana and South Texas market with the acquisition of the Casino Resort and Hotel currently under construction next to L'Auberge Lake Charles Casino Resort in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The project is expected to open in 2014 and will be a significant addition to the gaming scene in the region.

The new resort will feature a state-of-the-art world-class casino with over 60 table games, a poker room, and 1600 of the newest slot machines in the world. The property will also contain nearly 800 luxury hotel rooms and suites, an eighteen-hole championship golf course, a world-class spa, retail shopping, a number of Landry's signature restaurants, including Vic & Anthony's Steakhouse and Grotto Italian Ristorante.

The resort will also feature an 18,000 square foot ballroom, an entertainment showroom, meeting spaces, a one-of-a-kind pool and beachfront, and marina with over 3,000 parking spaces. The Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino is currently under construction and is expected to be one of the most luxurious gaming resorts outside of the Las Vegas strip.

Fertitta, owner of Golden Nugget Casinos, stated that he could not pass up the opportunity to build and operate a casino next door to his hometown. With its unique location only two hours from Houston, Texas, the resort is poised to draw in customers from both Louisiana locals and Texans alike. The resort's proximity to South Texas and Louisiana means it will be easily accessible by car, making it an attractive destination for those looking for a luxurious gaming experience.
